I bought the DVD about The Secret as soon as it came out. I have been interested in the Law of Attraction since being a Wayne Dyer and a Brian Tracy fan. The Secret really isn’t a secret, it is the phenomena of like attracts like.

Many people I have spoken to about THe Secret have said that they have been using the principles in the book and DVD for years. It was Brian Tracy who stated years ago that you can create a parking spot wherever you go simply by saying before you get to where you are going, “the perfect parking spot is waiting for me”. I have used this technique for twenty years now and it never fails to let me down. In fact when we go somewhere my husband Reg will say, “do your parking magic”. I get him to say it with me and we always get rock star parking usually right near the front door of where we want.

My take on the law of attraction is that the more we focus and work towards what we want the more it is attracted to us. Yes we have to first think about it and state it out loud and write it down but then we need to take action. You have heard of the saying God helps those who help themselves……that ’s the real secret.

If we wait idly by and simply imagine, state and write things down without taking any action towards what we want then we get frustrated and claim the law of attraction to be a big con.

I always write down five year goals for each milestone birthday again an action item I picked up from Brian Tracy years ago. For example before my 40th birthday I wrote that I wanted to earn a certain amount of money from my consulting and speaking practice. Guess what by my 40th I was earning slightly more than the amount I stated and it has been consistent. One of my goals I wrote was that before my 45th birthday I would find a major publisher to pick up my 3rd book AND that they would be willing to publish the book quickly- no waiting for 18 months. Well Voila! my agent found me a major US publisher and the book will be published this late fall 2008.

In between those intentions was a whole lot of work to go along with the intention.
