Planes, Cars and Cruises

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

We just got back from our first cruise with RBC Dominions Fifth annual Weekend to Remember cruise. Reg and I have never cruised before and this was a short one from Vancouver to LA. The business owners that signed up for the cruise were a great group of people and Peter Legge and his lovely wife Kay along with his daughters Samantha and Rebecca were there. Peter also brought his executive team aboard the Princess Diamond.

It took me a day or two to get my sea legs but overall it was a great time and a great experience. Peter was the opening keynote and I did a breakout session on the generations and how generational differences impact succession planning in a business.

If you ever get the opportunity to do a cruise and learn I would highly recommend it. It provides a great environment to meet people and to have a good time.

Order Vince Poscente’s New Book- Age of Speed

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

My good friend Vince has a brand new book out that is a must read for everyone, if you read one book this year this is it! Pass it on…….

Is our 24/7, Crackberry, more-faster-now culture eating us alive or setting us free?

Can you identify with feeling trampled by the speed of life and business? The Age of Speed, a new release by Vince Poscente reveals how to get ahead of the rush once and for all.

The book unravels the notion that in today’s world we need to slow down. The author is a friend and he illustrates why harnessing the power of speed is the ultimate solution for those seeking less stress, less busyness, and more balance. The Age of Speed shows this and other interesting revelations at work with case studies drawn from renegade companies such as Netflix, Geico, and Nintendo.

Full of counterintuitive insights and provocative research enlivened by a storyteller’s voice, The Age of Speed is a fun, fast read that will change your perspective and stick with you long after you finish the final page.

That brings me to this letter. Vince is a contemporary in the world of innovation. I love his work and have great respect for his knowledge and insight. Recently he asked for my thoughts on how to get the word out on this fresh book on thriving in our more-faster-now world. I thought of you.

But don’t just take my word for it. Click the link below and read for yourself why Executive Book Summaries awarded it Top 30 Business Books for 2007. (3 sample chapters on reframing how we approach our dwindling resource, time.)

Buy the book and you will have access to a $300 Speed Coaching online program for free.
